HUSSON UNIVERSITY (586) WINS THE MEN'S NEIGA CHAMPIONSHIP BY FOUR SHOTS OVER DIVISION II BENTLEY UNIVERSITY (590)


ASSUMPTION COLLEGE WOMEN (696) WIN THE OVERALL TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP WHILE SUFFOLK UNIVERSITY WOMEN (739) WIN DIVISION III. 

 


HUSSON'S DAULTON WICKENDEN SHOOTS A TWO-ROUND TOTAL OF 142 (-2) TO WIN THE OVERALL NEIGA MEDALIST BY ONE STROKE OVER BENTLEY'S CAL MEYERS AND RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE'S AUSTIN CILLEY.

 

FOR THE SECOND TIME IN SIX MONTHS, ASSUMPTION'S CATHERINE FRENCH WINS THE OVERALL WOMEN'S MEDALIST WITH A TWO-ROUND TOTAL OF 161. ALEXIS ANASTOS OF JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY WON THE WOMEN'S DIII MEDALIST.

UNIVERSITY OF HARTFORD WINS
THE 1ST ANNUAL WOMEN’S NEIGA CHAMPIONSHIP

 

ASSUMPTION WINS THE DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIP AND GREYHOUND CATHERINE FRENCH IS OVERALL MEDALIST.

 
 

Brewster, Mass – A rainout on Saturday turned the 1st Annual Women’s New England Intercollegiate Golf Championship into a one-day event and it was the University of Hartford that came out on top on the Starboard Course at The Captains Course in Brewster, MA. 

Division I University of Hartford, under the leadership of Head Coach Pete Stankevich, won the overall championship with a team total of 335. They were led by senior Cora Bernier who shot a 7-over 79. Bernier was the Division I medalist by six shots over teammates Brittany Ferrante and Caitlin Maralack.

Assumption College, led by Head Coach Brandon Parker, won the Division II title with a score of 360. Freshman Catherine French shot a 78 to win the overall medalist by one shot over Bernier. Fellow freshman teammate Mia Raposa was the DII runner-up with an 81.

There were two closest to the pin contests sponsored by New Balance Golf. Jackie Gonzalez of Holy Cross and Taylor Rogers of Fairfield University were the two contest winners. The winners will receive a pair of New Balance golf shoes as will the entire University of Hartford team for winning the overall championship.
